Role Summary:

This role is responsible for designing, fabrication, testing, industrializing, and globalizing fixtures and tooling used in repair processes for the Global Repair Services (GRS) network.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include project management of Repair Development Centre (RDC) fixturing and tooling projects supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), technology and productivity initiatives. This person will coordinate with Repair Technology Centre of Excellence (RT CoE) and GRS teams to drive standardized fixturing and tooling designs & improvements to achieve productivity, as well as services growth.



Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage the fixtures and tooling design functionality to produce conforming parts according to drawing requirements & ensuring all critical dimensions are met
  • Create fixtures and tooling drawings & publish in drawing document database
  • Liaise with vendors on fabrication & modification of fixtures and tooling to ensure timely delivery & conformance
  • Ensure fixtures and tooling are well tested for robustness and able to produce consistent and reliable results
  • Creation of Special Process Documents for the usage of fixtures and tooling developed by RDC
  • Create repair materials/process technology validation plan in conjunction with component engineers
  • Define industrialized process audit/quality requirements and perform audits of global repair service centers for adherence to best practices/process requirements
  • Lead productivity projects for RDC
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate in teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

Qualifications/Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you would possess and/or demonstrate the following;

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Engineering from a local or internationally recognised institution
  • Able to demonstrate experience in Unigraphics & AutoCAD software skills as well as familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning Characteristics and Drafting
  • An additional 3 years of engineering experience is essential.
  • Previous experience in repair of industrial gas turbine components would be advantageous, but not essential

Desired Characteristics:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or Equivalent Quality certification
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Manufacturing, repair, or project management background
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
