The Job

As a Unix Admin, You'd be responsible for:

  • Establishing configuration standard and design guideline for UNIX and system software, covering availability, performance, resilience, monitoring, backup and recovery functional areas.
  • Providing technical assistance to development team and operation teams.
  • Writing scripts using perl, bash and python.
  • Understanding of various development, testing and deployment tools - GIT/GITHUB, ANSIBLE, PUPPET, CHEF, NAGIOS
  • Troubleshooting and driving system recovery. Escalate problems with actual or potential major impact to problem management. Perform root cause analysis and ensure planned actions are carried out to prevent recurrence. Must be proactive and possess a sense of urgency during service recovery
  • Ensuring the supportability of the OS and system software. Plan and lead upgrade projects.
  • Reviewing and approving change requests. Supervise execution for major change
  • Conducting performance analysis and tuning
  • Automating system operation
  • Tracking and drive patch management for all OS software. Track, plan and drive software upgrades to ensure continuous supportability.
  • Establishing adequate monitoring to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery
  • Applying new technology and process to improve system supportability, recoverability, availability and performance.
  • Providing operational excellence and skills on OS and system software to support various project phases (requirement gathering, design, procurement, implementation and hand-over to operations).
  • Supporting audit and compliance activities.
  • Conducting capacity planning and performance management.

The Profile

  • You have a degree in IT, Computer or Engineering
  • You possess a minimum of 6-8 years in-depth Linux (Redhat) administration experience in an enterprise level environment.
  • You have strong Knowledge with experience in RedHat Clustering.
  • You must have experience in HCI and VMware server provisioning and administration.
  • You possess good technical knowledge of Linux hardware, operating system and system services (volume manager, file system, NTP, DNS, PCS, SSH etc).
  • You are familiar with the usage and installation of applications in Redhat Linux systems.
  • You have hands-on experience in a REDHAT Satellite server.
  • You have the ability to troubleshoot system level issues related to OS.
  • You have experience in middleware and application execution in the UNIX environment is an added advantage
